The Center is engaged in an ongoing effort to identify, characterize and help assess the utility of any technology considered for local and regional active defense or response to the threat of terrorism and weapons of mass destruction. The Center maintains close working relationships with several emerging efforts to combat terrorism, including the Los Angeles County Terrorism Early Warning Group. The LA TEW is developing a model of intelligence preparation for operations using a regional, networked concept of operation and has been cited by the Gilmore Commission on the Threat of Domestic Terrorism as a case study example. The Center has published Occasional Papers on focused elements of the terrorist threat, including research on aviation and airport terrorism and radical Islamic and Al Qaeda doctrine.
